The company originally started as Gebruder Dassler Schuhfabrik and was setup by Rudolf and Adolf Dassler. However, the brother’s relationship deteriorated quick quickly and in 1948 they separated into two different companies, Adidas and Puma. In its time, it has been a sponsor for some of the greatest athletes of all time, including Martina Navratilova, Linford Christie, Michael Shumacher, Diego Maradona and Pele. Luis Suarez and Hector Ballerin are among the footballers that are currently sponsored by the brand.

Under Armor is a relatively new brand compared to others on this list, having only been established since 1996. However, it has grown in popularity over the last 22 years to become one of the leading brands in the world. It sells all manner of sportswear and footwear for sports and casual purposes. some of the most prominent names that have sponsorship deals with the company include the basketballer Stephen Curry, the British boxer Anthony Joshua, tennis playing brothers Andy and Jamie Murray and swimming legend Michael Phelps.
