Lee, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to answer our questions about leadership, and entrepreneurship.
1. Lee, please tell us about Nex Graphics. What is the elevator pitch?
Nex Graphics is a Los Angeles based website/graphic design and email marketing company that offers our clients a personalized approach to all our graphics and web design – something you won’t find in the larger graphic and web design firms. We have over fifteen years of one on one and dedicated service. Nex Graphics has been helping our clients by creating websites that are specifically built for their personal business needs.
We are known for our custom design approach. No two clients or businesses are alike, therefore, no two websites or design and marketing materials should be the same. At Nex Graphics, we take pride in presenting clients with custom web design and marketing materials.
2. What is the one thing that makes Nex Graphics great?
We are one of the FEW graphic/web design agencies that meets with EACH and EVERY client face to face. Graphic and web design is very VISUAL. Its hard to communicate ideas by phone and email. We meet with every client and browse through ideas, color schemes, and the brainstorming ideas just flow when two people get together and work together.
3. Please tell us what is the key to being a great entrepreneur?
In my business I would have to say creativity. In this business, its key. You have to not only be creative in a design aspect, you have to also be able to evolve with todays changing technology, laws, and have to be on top of everything. You also have to be open to change.
4. What is the best advice can you give to a young entrepreneur just starting out with a new venture?
There are so many resources available to anyone who would want to start this kind of business. There are online courses for software, there are online help groups and forums, and even certifications. But the best advice I can give is to get out there and NETWORK. Meeting people is KEY to getting clients, advice, help, and sometimes forming partnerships and connections will put your business ahead of someone else.
5. What is the one thing that you, as a person, want to be known for?
I would love to be known as that person who is creative, fun to work with, and a great problem solver, I love to help others achieve their goals with their business.
6. When building a business, what is the one most important thing to keep in mind at all times?
To keep up with the changing times and technology, and to make the right decisions for your company and its future, keeping those things in mind.
7. When hiring employees, what is the one most important thing you look for?
Loyalty. Nothing matters more to me than a person that is committed to their job, and takes pride in their work and wants to stay with your company because they believe in what you do for your clients.
8. What is your “Why”? Why do you get up in the morning?
The simple answer is “because I LOVE what I do”. And my clients tell us how they love what we do for them all the time. This makes it worth it for us to get up and go in the morning.
9. What is the one thing that makes a great company?
Listening and understanding your clients. Each company has different needs and different solutions. So its very important during the interview process to fully listen, comprehend and understand what your clients wants and needs are. Sometimes they are looking for a solution to a problem. You being able to understand and solve their needs is KEY to being a great company.
10. What is the one thing that makes a great leader?
Knowing how to treat your employees and clients with respect.
