Petia, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day for this interview about your company, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
1. Petia, please tell us about MySuper.Site.
MySuper.Site builds web sites that are focused not only at good design, but also at conversion. You need great online presence and we’re doing our best to give it to you. And stay in your budget. We crate business sites, e-commerce sites, real estate sites, tourist agencies sites and more.
2. How did you come up with the idea for MySuper.Site?
I’ve been a web designer for years and I’ve worked for other companies. A time came that I wanted to develop services the way I find them to be useful and in short – do things my way.
3. What is the key to your company’s success?
We’re experienced, keeping deadlines, focused on client’s needs and staying in the budget. We rely on strategy and we build one for every project we work on.
4. Many of our readers are just starting to build a company. What advice can you give entrepreneurs just starting out with a new venture?
Do your best to be an expert in your field. You’ll have to spend all your energy, all your thoughts – but if you are motivated enough – it’s gonna work. If there are things you don’t know – ask, read more, seek more information. Being an expert is what’s going to make you stand out.
5. For other entrepreneurs seeking to build a business as successful as yours, what advice can you give them when times get a little challenging?
Challenges is what should motivate you more, not the opposite. Being challenged means you’ll have to put more efforts in what you do. That will make you a bigger expert. And that in term will make you more successful. Yes, it takes time. Yes, it can be demotivating sometimes. But challenges are there all the time – not only in business, but in life. You can’t have it all, all the time. Your business will have ups and downs. The environment is variable and sometimes changes in the environment affect your business. Accept that even before starting doing business. And always remember “It’s just business. At the end of the day there are more important things.”
6. How do you make sure your customers will become raving fans of your company?
Respect them and their needs. Share your knowledge. Be there when they need advice. Make them feel cherished. It’s really important to build a good relationship with them and following all of the above is going to build it.
7. In today’s fast changing business environment, how do you stay abreast of things?
I read all the time. I follow the latest tendencies. I’ve subscribed for news from all important publishers in my field. I never refuse to spend more time on reading. Even if it’s midnight – if it’s an informative article – it’ll take a few more minutes from my sleep, but I’ll start the next day with more ideas in my head.
8. What is your “Why”? Why do you get up in the morning, and how do you keep yourself at peak performance to lead MySuper.Site?
I love what I do. I’ve studied psychology for 4 years. I’ve been a hobby artist since I can remember myself. And I’m doing web design since there was Internet in my country (i.e. from 1999). I think creating web sites is a great combination of all mentioned above and I’m constantly thinking how to get better. Every morning I get up I think what I’m going to learn today, that will help me create greater and greater sites. It’s motivation and desire to learn that’s working for me. And not the least – I’m a communicative person and I love talking with my clients. It’s not enough just to create a site, it’s their reaction that matters the most and their future success that is the biggest reward. When I’ve created a successful site and receive my client’s review – that’s when I know I’m doing it right. And that’s how I know I should continue doing it.
9. Can you recommend a book that has had an influence in your career? How did it influence you?
“Tribes” by Seth Godin.
““Life’s too short” is repeated often enough to be a cliche, but this time it’s true. You don’t have enough time to be both unhappy and mediocre. It’s not just pointless, it’s painful. Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you ought to set up a life you don’t need to escape from.”
Building my own business created an everyday for me that I don’t want to escape from, but I’m eager to follow.
10. What makes a great leader?
A great leader leads by example. You want your team to be motivated and hard working? Be motivated and hard working. Don’t expect that your employees will want to do something if you, as their leader, don’t want to do it. You should be an example to follow, the main figure in the team, the inspiration, the one others talk to when there is a need of advice.
